Los Medanos College has developed a new College Quadrangle Complex to facilitate future growth and create, per the master plan, a proper campus with a central quadrangle. The complex consists of the Math, Science, and Library buildings and a central quad positioned between the new buildings and the original 280,000 s.f. building. The complex forms a welcoming gateway and new entrance to the college.

The mathematics division building’s focus is to serve students by creating a nexus of mathematic classrooms, labs, offices, study and tutorial spaces. The new building contrasts strongly with the original extant 1960’s building by providing generous glass enclosed spaces that are light-filled, welcoming spaces with direct connections to the outdoors. A unique feature is the tutorial space which supports student learning by providing different areas to facilitate different learning and teaching styles. Augmented by technology, these spaces are of differing sizes so that students can learn individually or in various sized groups
