The Woodbridge Aquatic Center is one of the components of the comprehensive Woodbridge High School 2007 Master Plan that promoted accommodating student growth and encouraging community involvement. The new 50 meter x 25 yard competition pool was designed for swimming and water polo. The facility includes a Shower and Locker Building, Team Rooms, Coaches Offices, Concessions, Ticket Booth, Pool Storage, Pool Equipment.
The Aquatic Center, along with the Music/Fitness Complex, was planned by the District to demonstrate sustainable principles which included: natural light with solatubes and light monitors, natural ventilation, renewable materials, a groundbreaking displaced air ventilation system, photovoltatic panels, solar water heating and exploration of using a fuel cell system to generate much of the school’s energy whose heat by-product could heat the pool.
The complex is registered as a CHPS project and meets NCAA level standards.
