July 15, 2013 – El Camino College and tBP/Architecture celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Shops Replacement Building. Representing tBP at the groundbreaking was Project Manager, Patricia Medina, LEED AP. Replacing a 1949 structure on campus, the 44,400 square foot modern learning facility will be complete with sustainable indoor and outdoor learning spaces, housing programs of Automotive Technology, Welding Technology, Automotive Collision Repair and Painting, and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Under the Savings by Design Program, the design incorporates energy saving design elements. The new $31.8 million building was made possible with the College’s 2002 Measure E facilities bond.
