GWC’S MAIN GATEWAY FACELIFT

April 8, 2016 – “Welcome, come on in!” is the message of the newly re-imagined design of Golden West College’s main gateway from Goldenwest Street. tBP/Architecture, along with MelĂ©ndrez Landscape Architects, re-engineered the previously underwhelming primary entry drive re-aligning the drives and removing and replanting the entire entranceway. Now a picturesque tree alee’ guides drivers toward the recently completed Library. For ease of use and safety, students can now be dropped off along a large separate lane for drop offs. To ensure recharging the water table, the large paved parking lot areas drain into a new vegetated bio-swale. A new sign announcing the name of the College has taken the form of a vertical tower mounted along Goldenwest Street serving as the icon for the campus.
