LMC Student Center Renovation Complete

November 11, 2015 – The highlight of the 40th Anniversary of the opening of Los Medanos College, was the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly completed $17M modernization and reconfiguration of the Student Services. As the current student body president said, “In the old building I had a difficult time finding the entrance to the building, then trying to find where I could register for classes, that was exasperating and confusing. When I walked in the new building I immediately felt important because I knew that this building was for me”! The 38,110 square foot renovation created a new welcoming gateway for students and the community to facilitate the beginning of their college journey and a new gateway to the older campus megastructure building’s instructional space. The Student Services Center Renovation reinforces the newly completed central quad by creating a strong edge, now providing a backdrop to central quad activities and the existing “Spanish steps”. The array of Student Services are strategically located around the hub for easy access. The space is bathed in a natural light filtering through the ubiquitous concrete waffle slab, creating an engaging atmosphere. Read more/Portfolio.
