In time for the holiday season, the Glendale Unified School District held a Grand Opening Ceremony for Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. The grand opening celebration included a ribbon cutting ceremony for students, families, community members, school partners, dignitaries and educators.
The new 10,800 SF building is the result of a state-funded Overcrowding Relief Grant (ORG) Program which enables districts to reduce the number of portable classrooms and replace them with permanent classrooms. A total of six portable buildings and one restroom portable were replaced. Students and teachers shared the excitement of moving into new classrooms complete with large presentation monitors, Wi-Fi compatibility, LED lighting, multi-media teacher podiums. The program includes five classrooms, a computer lab, covered walkways, play area, and restrooms.
