The Library/LRC building was designed to be a gateway entrance building, defining a new “front door” for the Hartnell College campus. The Library includes several special rooms including a Distance Learning and Video Conferencing room. The Community Room on the ground floor is designed to allow for public use during scheduled off-hours. Daylighting is provided by generous amounts of glazing, protected by sunscreens and skylighting. Energy savings items include daylighting controls, occupancy sensors, and a VAV HVAC system with sophisticated controls for the whole library environment.
