The mathematics division building’s focus is to serve students by creating a nexus of mathematic classrooms, labs, offices, study, and tutorial spaces. The new building contrasts strongly with the original extant 1960’s building by providing generous glass-enclosed spaces that are light-filled, welcoming spaces with direct connections to the outdoors. A unique feature is the tutorial space which supports student learning by providing different areas to facilitate different learning and teaching styles. Augmented by technology, these spaces are of different sizes so that students can learn individually or in various-sized groups.
