The Willow Center is the District’s solution to re-use a defunct elementary school due to a redistricting strategy implemented to better serve students. tBP/Architecture was asked to renovate the school’s Multi-Purpose building and upgrade it to serve the District Administration Center, Adult Education Center programs, and the community. It features a rentable event space with a kitchen that offers cross-functional support for events and the Adult Education Center’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts programs. The lighting in the multipurpose building uniquely combines sound absorbing panels with dimmable LED lighting. Additional LED cove lighting can be set to a wide range of colors to suit the theme of any event. A stage equipped with a retractable projector screen and other supporting media technology completes the array of event space amenities.
