Our Chabot College Biological Sciences Building Phase II project has obtained LEED Silver Certification! This building completes the Biological Science Complex, bringing together modern instructional labs for Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology Geology and Engineering all designed around a STEM community concept.
The building’s sustainable design features include:
- Urban infill that protects greenfield sites
- Bioswales for stormwater management
- Drought-tolerant, native landscaping
- Cool roof technology and light-colored paving to reduce heat island effect
- Water-efficient fixtures and LED lighting throughout
- Enhanced mechanical/electrical commissioning for reduced energy use
