College trustees unanimously approved a name change of the Health and Science building to the Leslie S. Uhazy Hall in a special board meeting proceeding Friday’s Opening Day event for faculty and staff. The resolution recognized Uhazy’s, “lifelong commitment to student success; to the thirst for continued improvement and learning; to selfless service to the college and community; and to not accepting anything less than excellence mark him as a consummate professional whose life example sets a standard for all to seek.”
In addition to the announcement, Uhazy was surprised with the attendance of family on stage at Opening Day activities.
Uhazy has been at the college more than 29 years. Before becoming a dean in 1998, he taught microbiology. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alberta and a doctorate at the University of Guelph.
