Upon entering the West Valley Planetarium, visitors are greeted at the welcome desk and introduced to the awe and wonder of the interactive exhibit hall. The hall includes both rotating astronomy exhibits and permanent displays such as a Foucault Pendulum and a Meridian Line Projector. Further exploration leads to the heart of the planetarium, a uniquely suspended, 41’ diameter domed theater. There, visitors can recline comfortably in canted seats to immerse themselves in the wonders of the Universe. Images are produced both by a state of the art digital projector and secondary optical projectors. This facility was designed to be multipurpose for college coursework, K-12 field trips, and multimedia immersive performances.
